What We Do

Our Mission

NOMAnash is one of NOMA’s youngest chapters and was formed in 2018 with the charge to advocate issues regarding Greater Nashville’s underrepresented in the architectural profession, to advocate for equity within legislation with the local government, to commit to the welfare of the community at large, and to be an inspiration and active participant in the education of local youth. As so eloquently spoken by Dr. Maya Angelou, “Each child belongs to all of us and they will bring us a tomorrow in direct relation to the responsibility we have shown to them.” NOMAnash embraces this responsibility and strives to have a remarkable impact in the city of Nashville and surrounding areas through the creation of inspiring programs and educational opportunities. One such inspirational program unique to NOMAnash is the creation of the annual “NOMAnash The Coloring Book of Architecture”. NOMAnash’s mission is to work with the Metro Nashville Public School system to introduce and promote architecture to school age children (grades k-12). The books would include images/works by NOMA Nashville members. The purpose of this coloring  book is to be a fun way to expose students to architecture and to spark interest in architecture as a rewarding and attainable career choice.  NOMAnash has received overwhelming support for the coloring book and it has been perceived as a definite benefit to the prosperity and welfare of our community’s youth.

In addition to the coloring book, NOMAnash is constantly searching for opportunities to reach out to the Greater Nashville community by keeping members engaged in local programs and by hosting NOMAnash Project Pipeline Summer Camp.
